This Is Why Creativity Takes Courage Today.
Creating is tough on the ego. Just the idea of starting a project can stop us from ever getting started. Our critical inner dialog might go like this:
“You are going to fail.”
“Why would anyone take you seriously?”
“It’s a waste of time, don’t bother.”
“How old are you?”
“You need a special degree for that.”
“Everyone will laugh at you.”
To turn off our inner voice, we need to throw self-doubt and the idea of success in a very dark place and realize it takes gobs of courage to put the darkness aside and, own it.
Yes, own it.
Own the courage.
Own the work.
When we OWN it, we give ourselves permission to OWE it to ourselves and say, “That’s mine, and it is important to me.”
When we OWN it, we put our fear aside and do things that make us whole, real and unstoppable.
With our creative courage, we can paint a better today. Tomorrow, we can become happier parents. Next week, we can help a struggling community. Next month, we can ignite a new enterprise. Next year, we can build our unattainable dream.
Or we can use it to cook a better chicken pot pie.
Whatever we decide to do with our creativity, let’s own it.
Until tomorrow friends.
