Here Are 3 Creative Ideas To Make The Farmer's Market Your Best Friend This Weekend.

Hi, Creative Friends,

Summertime brings much joy with its longer days, refreshing swimming holes, and its bountiful farmer’s markets! Many fresh creative ideas can be inspired by our farmer friends at the local market!

This week, pop on over to the local farmer’s market and get creative with these 3 ideas:

  1. Pump Up The Jam: Grab yourself a big box of fresh berries and whip up some homemade jam. The good news is Ella Quittner at Food 52 made a lot of jams to find “The Absolutely Best Way To Make Jam.” Not to spoil the secret, but she macerates and cooks sweet fresh-picked berries right on the stovetop to whip up the most lusciously beautiful treat.

  2. Frame The Farmer: Inspiration can strike anywhere and the local farmers’ market is full of people who produce colors, textures, and beautiful muses. Bring a camera and snap a big bunch of photos. Pick a few of your favorite snapshots and have them printed at Parabo Press. Or bring a sketchbook and take a deep dive into florals like this “Farmer’s Market” art print from INPRNT inspired by teddy bear sunflowers, salmon-colored Zinnias, and petal pink Cosmos.

  3. Build A Better Bouquet: The farmer’s market is filled with many wonderful ingredients to get the creative juices going. Maybe gather together mint stems with a bunch of Zinna flowers to make a beautiful centerpiece for the kitchen table? Putting together a beautiful bouquet is easy with this video tutorial from Team Flowers: How To Make Farmer’s Market Bouquets.

Drop me a message and let me know what you are working on or how will you get creative with your local farmer’s market.

Make This 4th Of July Joyful And Special With These 3 Creative Ideas.

Celebrating July 4th

Hi, Creative Friends,

America’s Birthday is this Tuesday, July 4th. If you are a bit like me, holidays can stir up lots of creative energy and a big walk down memory lane. For me, the 4th of July always includes clapping on the sidelines of a festive 4th of July parade, splashing in a local watering hole, and watching fireworks bloom in the sky. American’s birthday celebration can be a holiday filled with warm, summertime memories. That’s why…

This week, let’s make July 4th wonderful and special, with these 3 creative ideas.

  1. Many Good Characters: Movies are the backbone of American culture and there are a bunch of great films to watch together to celebrate the great American story. Here are 27 Best 4th Of July Movies from Good House Keeping. Pair one of these American tales with a big bowl of Patriotic Popcorn from Oh Sweet Basil and this recipe for Rasberry And Lemon Rosé Sparkler from Women’s Day and will make the day special.

  2. Hot Dog! Everyone Wins: What happens when one man eats 75 hot dogs? Let’s find out America! Watch in horror and amazement as Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest continues this year with Joey Chestnut defending his champion title. To extend the fun, let’s create a watermelon eating contest right in our own backyards and call 4th-Of-July done & fun!

  3. American Blue Splendor: Pie says America is grand so try this Blue Ribbon Blueberry Pie recipe from King Arthur Baking and watch everyone’s eyes light up like fireworks.

Make Summer Focused And Slow With These 3 Amazing Ideas.

Hi, Creative Friends,

Summer is such a wonderful time of year! We might find ourselves wanting to do more and see more! There are trips to take, people to see, and lots of sweet moments to check off our summer bucket list. Even with the longer days, we can feel the endless summer days floating away. We might find ourselves feeling rushed and not enjoying the best thing summertime has to offer us: the art of slowing down.

This week, let’s slow down summer with these 3 epic creative ideas…

  1. Garden Gone Wild: Is there an epic amount of zucchini squash growing at this moment in our garden or mounds of it piling up at the local market? Try slowing down by baking up and enjoying this recipe for Double Dark Chocolate Zucchini Muffins. They are as delicious as they are creative and can help us enjoy summer slowly one bite at a time.

  2. Slow Sip: Whether we put our feet up by the beach or lounge in our backyard, cocktails have a way of making summer slow. Try stirring up one of these “Best Summer Cocktails 2022” recipes from Good Housekeeping or try this “Ranch Water” recipe from A Couple Cooks to meander into bliss on a hot summer afternoon.

  3. Just Sit: It seems counter-intuitive to just sit, close our eyes and do nothing but did you know there are many benefits of staying still for just a few minutes a day? Read more about how just 5 minutes of sitting can balance out our being on “Mindfulness: Sit Still For 5 Minutes A Day” on WebMD. Jump into a hammock, pull up a camping chair, or sit on the soft grass and pause for 5 min to soak up and slow down each moment that summer offers us.

Drop me a message and let me know what you are working on or how will you slow down this summer.

Find Your Super Bloom this Spring With These 3 Good Creative Ideas.

Hi, Creative Friends,

Spring is brimming with blooms. With the enormous winter rains we had here in California, all the seeds nature planted last year are turning the hillsides into what is called a “Superbloom!” Bright orange California poppies, ombre purple Lupine, and delicate pink Dwarf Checker Mallow flowers fill the landscape and this spectacular display of color made me think about how anyone can find creative progress after dormancy. This week…

Find Your Super Bloom this Spring With These 3 Good Creative Ideas.

  1. Color Wonder: Have you ever walked through a park or watched a beautiful sunset and been overwhelmed by color? Yes, there is a reason why sky blue and flame orange look so beautiful together, and we can practice these same color rules when we pick a couch color, make a dinner delightful or plant a rose garden. Read about “Color Theory Basics: How To Use Color Theory in Interior Design” on Foyr and watch your color knowledge bloom.

  2. Sketch For The Curious: Sometimes we feel our creative progress stop. We get burnt out from doing the same creative work day after day. Whether it’s how to: design our house, raise children, find career growth, or make dinner we can all start to feel drained by creative work. Get your creative bloom back by sketching on this Quick Draw Doodle Program from Google. It’s a fun way to take a break and be curious and sketch for fun.

  3. Not All Who Wander: Trying something new rewires the brain. That is to say, studies show, it is good for your mental health to go out, get lost, somewhere or in something. Read more at Adventures.com “How Travel Changes Your Brain” or try a new sport such as Stand-up Paddleboarding to see how getting out of a comfort zone can make us bloom!

Drop me a message and let me know what you are working on and how you let your creativity bloom.

3 Creative And Easy Ways To Make Planet Earth Healthy And Happy.

Hi, Creative Friends,

Tomorrow is Earth Day! We are all spinning on a beautiful round sphere in the middle of space. Our amazing planet is full of diversity and wonder. However, like frogs boiling in a pot of water, we feel the pain and damage we are doing to our big blue beautiful home. That’s why here are…

3 Creative And Easy Ways To Make Planet Earth Healthy And Happy.

  1. Plant A Tree: Warren Buffet said it best, “Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” Trees give us so much including the air we breathe, they keep the planet cool, and make the world we live in rich history. That’s why deforestation threatens us all. Planting a tree now at The Nature Conservatory will ensure life in the future.

  2. Creative Earth: If you think creativity can’t influence and change minds, look at 10 Artists Tackling Climate Change and their work. Their work can help us gain a fresh perspective on how the planet needs help.

  3. Art Exchange: That big box of crayons sitting in the bottom of a closet, the drawer of mix-matched markers in the kitchen drawer, a ball of thread from a Halloween costume sitting in the hall closet, the buckets of paint filling the garage shelf, and the pile of books at the foot of the bed all are treasures for other artists or friends. Try exchanging art materials at a place like the Creative Refuse Depot or installing a “Little Free Library” to pass on stories. Sharing materials can inspire creativity and help the planet in the process.

Drop me a message and let me know what you are working on and how you will help planet Earth.

Make April Fools' Full Of Laughs With 3 Creative Ideas.

Hi, Creative Friends-

Tomorrow is April 1st and you know what that means. It’s April Fools Day! Let’s get planning, creative, sneaky, and…

Make April Fool's Full Of Laughs With 3 Creative Ideas.

  1. Big Belly Laughs: Good Housekeeping has a great list of “20 Easy April Fools’ Day Pranks That Are Harmless" including the freaky faucet! Get everyone giggling with one of these hilarious pranks.

  2. Send A Fools Tweet: Head on over to Twitter and find one of the many brands that have jumped on the April Fools’ bandwagon. In 2022, there were many smart jokes to choose from like the 7-11 Tiny Gulp, Butterfinger Mayo, or The National Weather Service converting temperatures to Kelvin. Find a new 2023 version, forward a tweet to an unexpecting friend, and let the laughing begin.

  3. Serve Up Humble Pie: The easiest way to may a friend laugh might just be through their stomach! These “5 April Fools’ Food Ideas” are downright devious. My personal favorite is the “Meaty Desert” trick. The surprise that follows would create a great April Fools’ memory to be remembered for years to come.

Drop me a message and let me know what you are working on and what you are doing to celebrate April Fools’ Day.
